The reasoning behind the site name stems from the Art Nouveau movement of the 19th Century. The movement itself focuses on unruly features of the natural world, which directly relates to the function of Art Therapy to reveal unsettling issues in children in a natural and creative way. Nouveau means modern, which relates to the fact that Art Therapy is a contemporary psychodynamic treatment for those suffering with mental illness or learning disabilities.

‘Art Nouveau’ is concerned with rallying support behind alternative therapy treatments for children. The particular treatment I want to focus on is Art Therapy and how it helps to deal with learning disabilities. The problem is that Art Therapy is not widely covered in the media. The objective of this site is to alter current attitudes towards new therapies to deal with emotional turmoil and frustration that comes with falling behind in the classroom.
